Position Overview
Saddlepoint Labs is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join our small but dynamic team. This role offers the unique opportunity to work across our full tech stack at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and laboratory automation. You will have a significant impact on product development and strategic decision-making while helping people advance technologies that are important to society.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain frontend, backend, hardware, and cloud infrastructure for our AI assistant for wetlabs
- Research, design, and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms for real-time laboratory monitoring
- Help prioritize product features and technical roadmap based on customer feedback and engineering feasibility
- Collaborate on product development, UI/UX design decisions, and customer interactions
- The position is remote. You will be asked to travel occasionally for in-person team meetings or customer site visits
Required Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Python
- Experience with deep learning
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with customers
- Adaptability, flexibility and independence
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in relevant field or 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Professional software development experience
- Experience working with customers on product development
- Experience with wetlab experimentation
Tech Stack
Our tech stack includes a number of technologies:
- Computer vision and deep learning frameworks: OpenMMLab, PyTorch, OpenCV and Open3D
- ML model deployment and cloud infrastructure: Docker, MLflow, ONNX, AWS, Terraform
- Backend framework: FastAPI
- Frontend frameworks: React and Next.js We understand that having experience with all of these tools is rare. The position represents an opportunity to grow expertise across a wide range of frameworks and packages.
